The Pirate & Cannon Automaton
Limited Edition of 10 — Now Available for Pre-order

This handcrafted automaton captures a moment of theatrical tension: a lone pirate, braced beside his cannon, caught in the final breath before battle. Designed and built in the Highlands of Scotland, each piece is a fusion of mechanical precision and narrative flair—an object that tells its own story through motion and material.

Constructed from ash, sapele, and lime (basswood), with stainless steel and brass components, the automaton stands 32cm tall, 28cm long, and 13cm wide. That’s approximately 12.6 inches high, 11 inches long, and 5.1 inches wide. Every element is shaped and finished by hand, with subtle ageing to evoke the character of maritime life and the drama of its final stand.

Only ten pieces will be made in this edition. Each automaton is priced at £1,400 (approximately $1,900 USD), reflecting the time, materials, and artistry that went into its creation. Postage and packaging are not included and will be quoted based on destination. Orders are welcome from the UK, USA, and most international destinations. Please note that I do not currently dispatch to the EU, due to recent regulatory changes that require small makers to appoint an EU-based “Responsible Person” for compliance. As a sole creator, this requirement makes direct EU sales impractical at this time.

Estimated delivery begins 22nd September 2025. To accompany the release, I’ve created a short YouTube video showcasing the automaton in motion and sharing a glimpse into its build and story.
